Integrated System for Analysis and Multidisciplinary Design Optimisation

The project (2006-2008) intends to develop an integrated system which will approach in a unitary way two distinct disciplines from the aeronautical field: both the problems of analysis and optimal design of structures and the problems of computational fluid dynamics require important computational efforts. An interesting case study for this project is that of the fluid-structure interaction which is difficult to model. Hence, in many occasions parallel processing is employed. Although the parallel algorithms currently in use implemented on parallel architectures have a certain degree of efficiency, recent research showed that they can be improved. The project intends to approach both the problems of analysis and optimal design of structures, and the problems of computational fluid dynamics in the same way using the concept of Cellular Automata.
